Par excellence

Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic Mexico 66 – the cult slimline retro sneaker synonymous with the movie Kill Bill: Vol. 1 in yellow and black - is the chameleon of the sneaker world. In 2020, a metallic pack elevated the model adding gold, silver and bronze stripes, while the 66 Cactiful (2023), made from cactus material, is sustainably chic. Next came the “It girl's” sneakerinas: a hybrid of sneakers and ballet flats from Onitsuka’s 2024 collaboration with the French luxury house Patou, and at the end of 2025, paint-splattered, gold-ring embellished Comme des Garçons limited editions (see our story here).Â
This year, the shapeshifting continued with the debut of the slingback kitten heeled 66, which was the talk of Milan when it debuted on creative director Andrea Pompilio’s FW26 runway in the iconic yellow and black, along with a white-and-blue and black-and-white version.
Just dropped is the Japanese brand’s latest incarnation - the Mexico 66 Golf. Based on the 66 SD (an update of the classic sneaker with a more refined profile, premium leather, cushioning and a more durable rubber outsole for better grip), it is further updated with features suitable for golf. The upper has waterproof leather and a waterproof construction, which adapts to leisure use and the kiltie adds a retro-futuristic accent that helps to keep out sand and mud. They're cool kicks whether perfecting your sport or out on the street.
