A cultural moment in music

Charli XCX has gathered three icons of the arts for her new album “Music, Fashion, Film”, which will be released on Friday 24th July.

The striking monochromatic artwork for the cover features the Velvet Underground frontman John Cale (who also featured on her haunting “Wuthering Heights” hit, House) alongside fashion designer Marc Jacobs and the legendary film director Martin Scorsese. All three have become cultural figures in their chosen art form with influence beyond their vocation. They are shown dressed in black in a domestic scene, an ashtray left casually on the counter, in a photograph by Aidan Zamiri, the Scottish photographer and filmmaker who works across fashion, music and documentary.

The new album, coming on the success of "Wuthering Heights", the soundtrack to director Emerald Fennel’s film of the same name, will include the previously released tracks "SS26’" and "Rock Music".

Charli XCX’s creative output has been staggering of late – the artist shifting between music, art and fashion. More recently, she has expanded her creative practice into film, where she acts, writes, produces and scores projects with directors including Takashi Miike, Greg Araki and Cathy Yann.
