Men's summer accessories: from sandals to shades

It's been a scorching summer of heatwaves where only a good capsule wardrobe has kept the stylish man looking – and feeling – fresh. And while the cooling of temperatures is providing respite, the forecast for September across Europe looks to be hotting up, continuing the sweltering trends of the summer. Time to add some key accessories into your arsenal: a new pair of sunglasses, sandals and a sun-shading hat will see you through the Indian summer.

Men's sunglasses lean toward structured rectangular acetate and lightweight titanium designs. Statement logos are disappearing as the preference swings towards refined profiles in dark metals and tortoiseshell. Artisanal craftsmanship is favoured with frames ranging from hand-crafted Japanese aviators to slick retro styles.

Hot weather footwear selections also feel more refined: shifting from casual slides to quality materials, such as leather or suede, and smart sandals – from double-buckle to woven fisherman styles – or leather flip-flops that pair effortlessly with tailored shorts or trousers.

The right hat finishes a look. Baseball caps lean into the preppy aesthetic showcased on the runways of Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren, while classics such as a straw panama or trilby never go out of style – taking you from city to cabana.
