Milan Design Week

From L to N

L’ARTISAN PARFUMEUR

The French perfume house has commissioned Antoine Billore, “the most unconventional antiques dealer” to take over a Milanese apartment on Via Giovanni Lulli 2, where he will create an installation of “objects, memories and contemporary creations” that echo the brand’s olfactory world. Billore will also unveil his first collection of hybrid furniture – an ensemble described as contemporary design with historical fragments.

LORO PIANA

The Italian fashion house is hosting Studies, Chapter I: On the Plaid, an exhibition exploring the role of plaid as a decorative centrepiece of the interior at the Cortile della Seta located at their Milan headquarters at Via della Moscova. Here, it has constructed a path around 23 plaids, each treated as an independent study.

LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades has long been a standout of MDW – presenting an odyssey of design through the minds of some of the world’s most inventive creators – Atelier Oï, Campana Brothers, Marcel Wanders, India Mahdavi, Patricia Urquiola, Atelier Biagetti, Raw Edges and Nendo. This year the collection returns to the historic Palazzo Serbelloni on Corso Venezia.

LUCEPLAN

The Italian lighting brand known for its “Made in Italy” design is presenting creations by its new generation of designers – Zsuzsanna Horvath, Marco Spatti, and Umut Yamac – at its flagship store on Corso Monforte. There is also a tribute to Costanza, the family of floor lamps by Paolo Rizzatto (pictured), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and is now offered in three new interpretations of the original shade.

MARIMEKKO

The Finnish design house presents Osteria Fiori di Marimekko, a floral installation complemented by a Finnish-inspired aperitivo bar. The project features new textile installations – including Kukasta kukkaan by Erja Hirvi – and ceramics, presented in a convivial, garden-like space on Via Ascanio Sforza.

MIU MIU

The Miu Miu Literary Club returns to MDW for its fourth iteration “Politics of Desire” at the historic Circolo Filologico Milanese on Via Clerici. The programme explores themes of sexuality, consent and desire through a curated series of conversations and readings centred on the work of Annie Ernaux and Ama Ata Aidoo. Admission is free with registration.

MOLTENI & C

Last year, during the festival, the Italian design house opened the doors to its grand Palazzo Molteni on Via Manzoni. This year, the seven floor, 3,000 square flagship is a hub of activations. Il Conforto dell’architetto / The Architect’s Relief, is an exhibition dedicated to the work of Michele De Lucchi, presented with the Milanese galleria Antonia Jannone Disegni di Architettura, and Francesca Molteni. The Indoor 2026 Collection, curated by Creative Director Vincent Van Duysen (this is the designer’s 10th anniversary at the house), including his Julian modular sofa system, can also be discovered at the palazzo, while the 2026 Outdoor Collection will be unveiled at Responsive Nature, an installation by Elisa Ossino Studio at Via Senato 14, featuring five distinct yet interconnected gardens, where visitors are guided by a system of screens to discover its furniture.

MUTINA

The contemporary tile brand is unveiling two new collaborations – one with Shanghai-based architecture and design firm Neri&Hu, and the other with States-based The Josef & Anni Albers Foundation – at Casa Mutina, its Uriquola-designed home-showroom on Via Cernaia. Neri&Hu has conceived two collections: Weaving introduces ceramics with a design inspired by the art of bamboo weaving, and Hé is a new Editions line of tableware reinterpreting traditional Chinese rituals. The Josef & Anni Albers Foundation has conceived Homage to the Square – a vibrant interpretation of Josef Albers’ perceptual theories where ceramics transform into a visual receptacle playing with light, layered tones and optical illusion.
